Assistance League Outreach
| Addressing one-time or short-term communitiy needs that are not a part of our existing programs. New program that allows us to act quickly to address the unmet needs that are presented to us. Referrals accepted from the membership or the community at large. |
My Own Fun Stuff
| Provides 10,000 kits of quiet play things per year to hospital waiting rooms to occupy children. We serve Barnes Hospital, including its oncology department, Children's Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, Cardinal Glennon Health Center, and St. Mary's Health Center. |
Operation Hug
| Provides teddy bears to traumatized children. The bears are distributed by Ambulance, Fire and Police Districts and Emergency Rooms. In 2008-2009, we supplied seventeen agencies with 994 teddy bears. |
Operation School Bell®
| Provides new uniforms for elementary school children in need. In 2008-2009, we clothed 2,453 children in 15 schools with two sets of uniform clothing. Since 1990, more than 35,000 children have received new school clothing. During 2009-2010, Operation School Bell provided 2,638 students in 15 schools with 2 sets of new blue and white uniforms, a sweatshirt and six pairs of underwear and socks. |
Project ROSE (Raise Our Self Esteem)
| Assists abused and battered women. Provides supplies for parties to residents along with gift bags of accessories, clothing and toiletries. Since 2001, the committee members have packed and delivered 5,070 gift bags and 336 parties. |
Steps to Success
| This program provides athletic shoes to children in need (grades K-5). In cooperation with Shoe Carnival, 1,261 new shoes and new socks were provided to elementary children in 2008. Since 2002, 7,236 children have received new shoes. |
